Record number of Eastern European participants at World Darts Championship

The 96-strong field of participants for the 2023 World Darts Championship includes six players from Eastern Europe. Never before have so many participants from Eastern European countries competed in one edition of the World Championship.
Krzysztof Ratajski is the only Eastern European among the seeded players. The Pole is number 18 on the Order of Merit.
Karel Sedlacek (Czech Republic), Boris Krcmar (Croatia) and Adam Gawlas (Czech Republic) qualified through the Pro Tour, while Sebastian Bialecki (Poland) and Vladyslav Omelchenko (Ukraine) are among the international qualifiers. Omelchenko is even the first Ukrainian participant ever at the World Darts Championship.
