Michael van Gerwen will face
Nathan Aspinall in the first semi-final on Night Five of
Premier League Darts action in Exeter after victories over Gerwyn Price and Michael Smith respectively.
For Van Gerwen, it was repeat instead of revenge as he claimed back-to-back wins over Gerwyn Price. It was a 6-3 success for 'Mighty Mike' who reeled off five consecutive legs from 3-1 down to seal it.
The first two legs of the tie were shared before Price punished 10 missed darts at doubles from Van Gerwen to break throw and lead 2-1. More missed darts made it 3-1 to Price.
But he started to get into the groove and took out 83 for back-to-back legs and to square it up at 3-3. A 96 checkout saw him move ahead and a 84 on the bull towards the finish at 5-3 before making no mistake on double 16.
While for Aspinall who was facing an out of sorts Smith who has been struggling with a wrist injury, it was four consecutive legs himself to seal a 6-3 win. This with six 180's, two ton-plus checkouts and 66% on the outer ring.
Smith initially led 3-2 with an 85 checkout on the bull but Aspinall turned it around with a 116 checkout and a 140 back-to-back proving the catalyst as he romped to victory and sets up a meeting with the league leader.
