Results Players Championship 2, Last 128: Beaton knocks out Anderson, Cross also out after defeat to Labanauskas

The first round of action is complete at Players Championship 2 with multiple well known names heading out of proceedings at the early stage.

Gary Anderson is one of them. 'The Flying Scotsman' claimed the title yesterday but will not do the double, Steve Beaton accounted for him in a last leg decider.

Rob Cross is also out in Barnsley. 'Voltage' lost out to Darius Labanauskas also in a 6-5 defeat to end his weekend early.

Michael van Gerwen is through to the second round though defeating Harry Ward in a 6-3 win with a 96 average.

In terms of high average performances, Jamie Hughes and Jose de Sousa were among the players to hit the heights in the early rounds.

The former hit a 104 average to defeat Robert Thornton in a 6-2 win; while Jose de Sousa hit a 107.2 average during his victory over Kim Huybrechts.
