Ritchie Edhouse hits 104 average in superb Gurney win as Gabriel Clemens comes up clutch against Lukeman

The Flanders Darts Trophy continues with Ritchie Edhouse producing one of the best displays of the day thus far as he took down Daryl Gurney to conclude the session.

Edhouse who has been one of the players of the season already anyway averaged nearly 105 and was averaging around the ton plus mark until Gurney initially came back into the tie.

But he staved off the late threat with five 180's and he concluded the win with an 11-dart 97 checkout on double 20. He hit a 105 checkout en route to a 4-1 lead and looked to be coasting but Gurney forced him into producing some of his best form again. He got it back to 4-3 before Edhouse surged over the line with the 11-dart to finish it off. Superb from 'Madhouse'.

Robert Owen is making good on his European Tour chances as he looks to retain his Tour Card at the end of the season. He took down Krzysztof Ratajsi 6-3 to continue Friday's action.

It is consecutive first round wins for Owen who was ultra impressive averaging 92 and hitting three 180's in a fine opening salvo. Doubling was poor from Ratajski who hit 3/8 in the end but struggled in the early going as Owen streaked into a 4-0 lead.

It could've been even easier for Owen who either side of a 12-darter from Ratajski went at the brink at 5-1. But the Polish Eagle had his wings clipped as he aimed to soar again as he was denied after adding two more legs to his tally.

Jermaine Wattimena was even more impressive. Edging past home hope Brian Raman, it has not been a good day thus far for the host nation players. A lot of them have not played too poorly but have been victims of even better displays. It was a 102 average for 'Machine Gun' who rattled off three 180's and was also ultra impressive on the outer ring. He hit 6/8 including a high checkout of 142.

Raman did not play badly in the 6-4 loss. It merely came down marginally to the better scoring power as he hit a 93 average and was also superb on his doubles but fell in the end on his European Tour return.

While Gabriel Clemens sealed a thrilling win over Martin Lukeman. It was a deciding leg victory for the German over 'Smash' as the German Giant prevailed 6-5. He averaged 95 and produced a show stopping end.

Lukeman was waiting on 114 for the match himself but it was fighting fire with fire as Clemens produced a 107 checkout to seal the match with 'Smash' waiting to pounce.

Albeit not the best standard to start, it could've been even easier for Clemens who produced a 70 checkout to go 5-2 up initially before Lukeman won three legs in a row upping his level to force Clemens to produce and he did.
