Rob Cross will not play this weekend at the International Darts Open in Riesa becoming the latest big name to withdraw and a late one at that with the winner of a match tonight now already through to Sunday as a result.

"Sorry to say I’ve had to pull out of the next few events due to not feeling great. I apologise to the fans and PDC Europe as I always love playing in Germany. Hopefully I’ll be back soon," he wrote on Twitter.

This in turn gives a free pass to Sunday for Martin Schindler. The latter is defending champion and is the king of German European Tour events.

Due to Cross withdrawing after the tournament has started, they have not been able to add a reserve like Michael van Gerwen had with Richard Veenstra yesterday.

Veenstra replaced Van Gerwen who withdrew due to a shoulder injury from both the Premier League and also tonight. It is likely that both players will be out of the ProTour tournaments early next week.

Cross joins Luke Littler and also Gary Anderson so the latter aside three players from the Premier League line-up not to be involved this weekend as the events continue to pile up.
