Dimitri van den Bergh's appearance at the European Darts Championship has been limited to just one game. Dimitri van den Bergh lost to Rob Cross in the first round, immediately leaving no Belgian players in the tournament.
Van den Bergh mainly fell short in his scoring against Cross. In only three legs did 'The Dreammaker' finish, although Van den Bergh started quite well by using a 14-darter and a 72 finish to stay with Cross until 2-2. In the fifth leg the Belgian missed an opportunity for a break, after which Cross reached 3-2 via double 16.
A 127 finish from 'Voltage' doubled the lead in favor of the Englishman. Cross was then able to make it 5-2 with a 19-darter, before ending this match with a 15-darter. In the second round, Cross will face Danny Noppert, who convincingly defeated Andrew Gilding (6-0).
Dave Chisnall could barely enjoy his status as number one seed at the European Darts Championship. 'Chizzy' took a 2-0 lead in his match against Chris Dobey, but after he missed four arrows for 3-0 it went downhill fast. Chisnall did not win another leg and saw the victory go to Dobey 6-2.
