Robert Owen seals maiden PDC Challenge Tour title with Event 16 triumph, up to second in Order of Merit

Robert Owen is the first winner of the weekend in Leicester sealing Event 16 of this year's PDC Challenge Tour and moving into contention for the Tour Card and World Championship spots as a result.

Owen has been in good form this season while not winning a title losing in Event One and Event 13 finals to forerunners Scott Williams and Jurjen van der Velde.

It was an experienced last section with Matthew Dennant losing to Owen as well as Robert Thornton and finally Christian Kist with Adrian Gray, Mark McGeeney, Prakash Jiwa and John Bowles also getting to the latter stages.

Players can earn reserve spots for the Pro Tour 2022 and Tour Cards for 2023 and 2024 on the Challenge Tour. The highest ranked players on the PDC Challenge Tour Order of Merit are eligible for the reserve spots at the Players Championships.

The top two on the Challenge Tour ranking at the end of the season are offered a PDC Tour Card for the following two seasons. In addition, they are also allowed to participate in the PDC World Darts Championship.
