Rowby-John Rodriguez is the latest winner on the opening weekend of PDC European Challenge Tour action in Niedernhausen.

Rodriguez, who alongside his brother Rusty-Jake, has a crazy week with twelve PDC tournaments in seven days has made it pay by adding his name to the roll of honour alongside Matt Campbell and Kevin Doets this week.

This in itself will likely help his cause when it comes to making up the numbers once more in future Players Championship tournaments.

Along the way, he defeated Jan Dekker 5-2, Michal Smejda 5-1, Kenny Neyens 5-3, Damian Mol 5-0, Danny van Trijp 5-1, Richard Veenstra 5-2 before sweeping aside Toni Alcinas 5-0 in the final.

The action continues with the final event of Saturday having just begun in Germany.

Due to travel restrictions still in place due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Challenge Tour has been split this year into a separate circuit for both British and European players.

The winners of both tours will be eligible to participate in the upcoming World Darts Championship and will receive a PDC Tour Card for 2022 and 2023.

The highest-ranking players on the PDC Challenge Tour Order of Merit qualify for the reserve spots at the Players Championship tournaments.
