Survivor's song Eye of the Tiger has been inseparable from darter Raymond van Barneveld over the years. On Thursday afternoon though, another darter suddenly appeared with that song at the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship in London.
Darts fans heard the familiar tune from the Rocky series as Romeo Grbavac made his appearance. Van Barneveld apparently had the match on his TV, because he immediately came out with a comment on the social media sit X. ''Erm,'' he wrote somewhat puzzled, attaching emojis of an eye and a tiger. And Luke Littler also came up with a response: ''@raybar180 has changed,'' he sent on Instagram Stories to his million-plus followers.
Grbavac, however, did not appear to have chosen to come on with Eye of the Tiger. "He requested a completely different song," Jacques Nieuwlaat said during the broadcast on Viaplay. "He sent along all the documentation to prove it. He actually wanted to come on with Rim Tim Tagi Dim from Baby Lasagna. I don't know it, but it seems to be a big hit in Croatia."
According to Nieuwlaat, there are two possible reasons why not Rim Tim Tagi Dim was played. "There are often two reasons for it. They either put the wrong song in there, or they couldn't buy the rights to that song. After all, that's an entry for the Eurovision Song Contest."
However, the Croatian darter felt compelled to send a message to Van Barneveld. ''Hello Barney. The song was not my choice, I don't know why they used it,'' he sent in a DM on Instagram.
The 57-year-old Hague native shared the message on his own social channels. ''You're all forgiven friend,'' Van Barneveld wrote in the caption to the photo.
