Ross Smith "Gutted" after last 16 defeat to Luke Humphries at Grand Slam of Darts

The recently crowned European Champion, Ross Smith has taken to Twitter to express his disappointment after falling 10-8 to Luke Humphries at the Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton on Thursday night.

In a tense and tight encounter, Smith was always chasing Humphries and could never quite claw him back after trailing 5-2 early on. "Gutted to lose last night. It was a scrappy game" Smudger said in a tweet, "but credit to Luke for getting over the line".

Despite the defeat, Smith was looking to stay positive after all he is currently playing the best darts of his life on the big stage. "Pleased to have got through the group stage of the #GrandSlamofDarts for the first time." Smith said. "More progress"

Smith now has a week to recover from the disappointment and refocus, ready to go again in Minehead from Friday, November 25th for the Players Championship Finals, a tournament Smith reached the last 16 of in 2020.
