Ross Smith would feel 'hard done by' if snubbed for Premier League Darts: "There's been four major winners last year and I'm one of them"

Ross Smith heads into 2023 after the best year of his darting career which saw him become a major champion for the first time and announce himself as one of the best power scorers in darts.

After sealing an opening win at 2023 Masters in Milton Keynes over Damon Heta, like many questions swelled over Premier League Darts selection and 'Smudger' believes he deserves a shot given that he is a major champion.

"I want to be in the Premier League, I'm not going to stand here and lie. End of the day there's been 4 major winners last year and I'm one of them I'd feel hard done by if I'm not in it," said Smith to Online Darts.

"It'll be a dream come true but I know I've got to knuckle down and forget about that for the rest of this tournament."

He continued on that point and said that many in the reckoning haven't won a major title this past year with only four major winners overall with only him and Danny Noppert seen as potential doubts to be included by some.

"Pundits don't think I have, some do, some don't. I would be hard done by but it's not my decision at the end of the day. If you're going to pick people, it's going to be people who haven't won anything this year and I have. You're going to pick five or six players that haven't won a major. I want to be in it, hopefully fingers crossed."
