Saturday evening is here at the 2022
Masters and the 'Big Four' are in action starting their campaigns in Milton Keynes.
Peter Wright will walk out for the first time as a two-time World Champion as he takes on Simon Whitlock.
Known perennially as a player to take his chances, he did so against Dirk van Duijvenbode and will hope to deal 'Snakebite' a blow as he furthers his own ambitions.
While for Wright as usual, it will be the age old question in terms of what darts he is using and that often holds the key to his victories.
World Number One,
Gerwyn Price could relinquish that tag very soon to Wright and he will likely come out with a new look himself with his hair dyed in the off season.
But will the crowd play its part when he takes on 'Heavy Metal' Ryan Searle who continues to improve. A likely high scoring game which could produce some blockbuster averages.
As could the other two games on Saturday evening. It all begins with the defending champion,
Jonny Clayton who faces Dimitri van den Bergh.
The latter was supremely impressive against Ian White and said himself he knows he needs to bring it against 'The Ferret' who started his incredible progression in Milton Keynes last year.
He will look to make it back-to-back as he looks to a 2022 where he will look to climb the rankings and continue to win big titles. Van den Bergh will be wanting the same with one eye also on a Premier League spot.
Luke Humphries dumped out
Michael van Gerwen in the latter stages of the UK Open last year and on the same stage, he will aim to do it again.
The status of MVG's practice has been unknown with murmerings that despite being on holiday in Mexico, MVG took his practice board with him as he looks to win his first major title since the Players Championship Finals of 2020.
He will have a tough first assignment though in 'Cool Hand Luke' who will look to show his credentials himself for future opportunities such as the Premier League.
An intriguing evening of action from all angles is to come in Milton Keynes.
