Sunday afternoon sees the Grand Slam of Darts head towards its conclusion with the semi-finals set to take place in Wolverhampton with four names left with contrasting stories and paths.

The first tie in particular pits Raymond van Barneveld, up towards the top 32 again after by his own admission a poor comeback. He has delighted this week and has shown that the fire still burns to add the title that he won 10 years ago once again.

While in Michael Smith, he has again been one of the best players this year without getting the reward still. The most recent being the European Championship where Ross Smith played out of his skin but he goes into this penultimate session as the running favorite with the bookies as of last night.

Either way though, they will face tough opposition in the final as another interesting battle rears its head. Nathan Aspinall who has been one of the stories of the darting year has come back from career threatening injury to reach a major final and be ultra consistent on tour.

He could add a second major of his career and a long awaited one or he could fall to Luke Humphries who has flattered to deceive on TV up until recent weeks after the best year of his career elsewhere. A chance for a maiden major beckons though.

Albeit for any of these four, a likely Premier League spot and all of the other riches will potentially await and whoever does win will either be a first time winner overall or the first time in a long while.
