The final session of action is here in Dortmund in an action packed darting day and a new major champion is guaranteed at the
European Championship.
It will see two players who have had previous chances to taste major glory and in the opposite end of the draw, two players with their first chances meaning an intriguing end is to come.
The first two are of course
Dirk van Duijvenbode and
Michael Smith. Last time in an ITV televised tournament, 'The Titan' lost to Gerwyn Price at the World Series of Darts Finals but after previously losing at the World Grand Prix, he gets his second crack at a major ranking title.
While for Smith, can he finally do what he has been threatening to do for years with multiple World finals, Premier League finals and also his best chance in the UK Open earlier this season where he lost to Danny Noppert. Will it be another Dutchman to deal him with a hammer blow or will 'Bully Boy' finally add a well deserved title.
Two of the most improved players in the PDC are in the opposite half as
Chris Dobey will face
Ross Smith. A record breaking 180 haul for Dobey who averted the curse of Michael van Gerwen in style with a superb run this weekend and will face 'Smudger' who of course left the sport a few years ago and has returned and sealed a ranking title and could leave with a major.
He produced a sensational comeback to see off Peter Wright and now a big chance will await either player.
