The first round is complete at the PDC
World Darts Championship with the second round being the order of the day from now on including the tournament favourite being in action this evening.
That of course being
Michael van Gerwen who despite not winning the World title since 2019 comes into the tournament as the dominant force in darts again after winning four majors in 2022 including all but the Grand Slam of Darts and the previous World's on Sky Sports this season.
He faces a rising star though in Lewy Williams who will aim to pay heed to those backing the Green Machine and forge his own path. An impressive opener against Niels Zonneveld showed that he has the game but a different story in the dominant Dutchman awaits.
While
Stephen Bunting who has form from two years ago during the COVID behind closed doors tournament has proven before his pedigree at the World Championship but he will face 'The Soulger' in Leonard Gates who rivaled Dimitri van den Bergh in the dancing stakes and got the crowd firmly on his side. Can he do the same again.
Starting the session is Mervyn King returning to the big stage against Danny Baggish, while after defeating Beau Greaves, it is Gabriel Clemens that awaits William O'Connor.
