The world's top players have gathered in Amsterdam this weekend, where the tenth edition of the World Series of Darts Finals will be played. It is the fifth time the event will take place at the AFAS Live in Amsterdam. Read our preview for the first day of play here.
The World Series of Darts is considered the final tournament of the World Series circuit. The top international players were seen earlier this season in Bahrain, Den Bosch, New York, Copenhagen, Gliwice, Wollongong and Hamilton. The best players from the World Series, supplemented by wildcards and qualifiers, may compete in the World Series tournament in the Dutch capital.
What a wonderful program immediately awaits us on opening night. Friday night sees no less than ten (former) major winners in action, including three (former) world champions in the PDC. We begin the tournament with a meeting between Stephen Bunting and Boris Krcmar. Both men were active at the Poland Darts Masters earlier this season, where they both managed to reach the quarter-finals. Bunting also competed at the Nordic Darts Masters, where the last eight was also his finish.
The second match will be between Gabriel Clemens and Damon Heta. For Heta, it will be his sixth appearance at the World Series of Darts Finals, while Clemens has competed three times before. The German did not manage to win a match at the World Series of Darts Finals in his three previous participations. Heta has three wins to his name at this event. 'The Heat' made another appearance at the World Series tournaments in 'Down Under' this year and managed to reach the final at the New Zealand Darts Masters.
Dimitri van den Bergh, the only Belgian participant at this event is up in the third match. The Belgian will take on former Masters champion Chris Dobey. 'The Dreammaker' was in the final of the 2021 World Series Finals, but then had to acknowledge his superiority to Jonny Clayton. Dobey will be back at this tournament for the first time since 2017.
Raymond van Barneveld is the first Dutchman to take the stage in front of his own audience at the AFAS Live in Amsterdam. For the five-time world champion, a duel with Johan Engstrom awaits. Van Barneveld may already participate in the World Series Finals for the seventh time. In 2018, he recorded his best result by reaching the semifinals.
One of the most interesting posters of the evening is the clash between Luke Littler and Ross Smith, two of the best 180-hitters on the PDC circuit this season. Littler is seeded number one in Amsterdam, having reached the final of a World Series tournament four times in 2024. In Bahrain and Poland, he actually managed to win the tournament. For Smith, it will be his first time competing in the World Series Finals since 2018.
Michael van Gerwen is up in the sixth match of the evening. Van Gerwen faces a tough duel with Jonny Clayton. 'Mighty Mike' is the most successful player in the history of the World Series Finals. Of the previous nine editions, five were won by the Dutchman. Clayton also managed to win this tournament once before. The Welshman could lift the cup in 2021 in the AFAS Live in Amsterdam.
Reigning world champion Luke Humphries will also be in action Friday night at the World Series of Darts Finals. 'Cool Hand Luke' will try to add another missing title to his record in Amsterdam. For Humphries a match against Haupai Puha is scheduled. The New Zealander was also allowed to compete in the past two editions in the AFAS Live and managed to reach the second round for the first time last year.
The final match of the evening is a Dutch clash between Danny Noppert and Gian van Veen. The latter makes his debut at the World Series of Darts Finals. For Noppert it is the fifth time he is allowed to participate. His best result dates from 2019. Then the darter from Joure surprisingly managed to reach the final. After a Dutch final, the title then went to 'The Freeze'.

Where can I watch the World Series of Darts Finals live?

From Friday, Sept. 13 to Sunday, Sept. 15, the 2024 World Series of Darts Finals will be played at the AFAS Live in Amsterdam. The tournament will be broadcast in its entirety by ITV4 and ITVX in the UK. The first broadcast begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13. That is when the first part of the first round of the World Series of Darts Finals is scheduled. ITV4 will show this in full. It will also be shown on ITVX.
In the afternoon session on Saturday, Sept. 14, the final eight matches from the first round will be played. The winners of these matches, like Friday night's winners, will compete in the second round on Saturday night. The eight remaining players will make their appearance on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 15, during the quarterfinals. On Sunday night, the conclusion of the major tournament in the Netherlands will be with the semifinals and finals.

How much prize money is there to win?

All participants are guaranteed 5,000 pounds of starting money. If a player wins his first round, that amount increases to 10,000 pounds. A spot in the quarterfinals of the World Series of Darts Finals earns £17,500.
Four players remain on the final night. The players in the semifinals return home with £25,000 in prize money anyway. The finalists secure £40,000, while the winner takes home the top prize of £80,000. The prize money won does not count toward the world rankings.
