The first round will conclude at the 2022 World Matchplay on Monday with Gerwyn Price and Rob Cross both in action at the Winter Gardens.
Cross will kick proceedings off with the former champion again looking for a stellar week and he will face Chris Dobey who in two prior attempts has lost in the first round both times including a 10-3 defeat to ‘Voltage’ when they played during his winning year.
Jose de Sousa and Gabriel Clemens follow with ‘The Special One’ looking to regain some form. While in the case of Clemens, he reached another final last week on the ProTour so will look to use that form to cause an upset.
As will his World Cup teammate, Martin Schindler who faces Gerwyn Price who will look to finally seal the Phil Taylor trophy and after time away to refresh, he will look to return with a bang during one of the hottest days ever on record in the UK.
