Schedule Saturday afternoon at Baltic Sea Darts Open including Anderson, Clayton and Chisnall v Gurney

The Baltic Sea Darts Open 2025 will be held from July 11 to 13, 2025 in the northern German city of Kiel and is considered the ninth Euro Tour tournament of the season. The top names all come into the fore on Saturday including in the afternoon session.

In the past two years, the Baltic Sea Darts Open had an English final each time with Luke Humphries as runner-up. In 2023, it was Dave Chisnall who won the title in northern Germany by beating Humphries 8-5 in the final. Last year, Rob Cross settled with Humphries in the final.

Below is a preview of the eight matches of the afternoon session.

The afternoon session at the Wunderino Arena in Kiel will be kicked off by Ryan Searle and Cameron Menzies. Searle starts this tournament as the sixteenth series leader and is thus also the favorite to win this duel. Heavy Metal already won a Players Championship earlier this year and is looking for his first overall victory on the European Tour. For that he will have to get past Menzies, who had his hands full with Yorick Hofkens in the opening round. Menzies narrowly won 6-5 in the end. Cammy' has been on a roll this season and is close to the top 32 of the world ranking list. An exciting duel announces itself.  

Wessel Nijman did not impress in his opening match against German Martin Kramer, but did win 6-3. Nijman stuck to an average in the 80s and that doesn't happen to him very often. After all, the 25-year-old Dutchman is known for his high scoring ability. Nijman reached the semifinals each of the past two tournaments of the European Tour and wants to do even better this weekend. That will not be easy, because with Damon Heta he will meet a player who won a Players Championship this week. Heta starts this tournament as the eighth seed and hopes to win another European Tour tournament after his final victory at the Gibraltar Darts Trophy in 2022.

Gary Anderson already won a tournament on the European Tour (European Darts Grand Prix) this year and would like to add a second triumph this weekend. 'The Flying Scotsman' starts this tournament as the eleventh series leader and meets Krzysztof Ratajski in his opening match. The Pole was 6-2 too strong for Richard Veenstra in the first round. Ratajski has been in the sub-top of the darts world for quite some time and could make things difficult for Anderson, who has not been in great form in recent weeks;

With Danny Noppert against Mike De Decker we are presented with a Dutch-Belgian duel. The thirteenth seeded Noppert is having a stable year on the Pro Tour without any real standouts. The same can be said of Mike De Decker. The Belgian, who won the World Grand Prix last year, rarely throws low averages, but is still on the hunt for a first title this year. In the opening round, 'The Real Deal' was too strong for Mensur Suljovic.

Last year still good for two tournament victories (European Darts Open and Flanders Darts Trophy) on the European Tour, but this year it is all a lot less for Dave Chisnall. He is still seeded tenth, but will probably have a hard time beating a confident Daryl Gurney. Gurney recently won the World Cup of Darts alongside Josh Rock, beating Martin Lukeman 6-4 in the opening round. Despite his lower ranking in the world, Gurney still starts this match as a slight favorite.

Kim Huybrechts was admitted to this tournament as a reserve only after the withdrawal of several other players. However, the 39-year-old Belgian did not mind, he seized his chance and defeated Ian White 6-3 in the opening round. A welcome boost for Huybrechts, who is having a difficult year at the moment. If 'The Hurricane' wants to advance in this tournament, he will have to beat 12th-seeded Ross Smith. Smudger, winner of the European Championship in 2022, is known as a high scorer. For Huybrechts it will come down to his own scoring ability. If he does, he certainly has a chance against Smith.

The penultimate match of the afternoon session is between Jonny Clayton and Gian van Veen. Clayton was exempt as the third seed in the first round. Van Veen, who captured his first PDC ranking title this year, defeated Swede Johan Engstrom 6-0 in the opening round. Van Veen again achieved a 100+ average, his trademark in recent months. If he can do the same against Clayton, the Welshman faces a tough task to beat him.

The afternoon session in Kiel will conclude with an all-English duel between James Wade and Luke Woodhouse. Wade, the seventh series leader this weekend, won a Players Championship earlier this year and is still there after all these years at the top. However, he will not have an easy time against Woodhouse, who is having a strong year himself. Woody' has now established himself in the top 32 of the world rankings and has also qualified for the upcoming Winmau World Masters. In the opening round of this tournament, Woodhouse was too strong for Liam Maendl-Lawrance.
