The stage is set for a blockbuster Saturday night at the
Dutch Darts Championship in Rosmalen, as some of the sport’s biggest names enter the fray on Day Two of Euro Tour 7.
Luke Humphries,
Peter Wright, and
Josh Rock are among those set to headline what promises to be a thrilling evening session.
One notable absentee, however, is Michael van Gerwen. The three-time World Champion was initially expected to compete, but has since withdrawn from the tournament – and all upcoming events – following his separation from wife Daphne.
Rosmalen plays host to the seventh European Tour event of the season, marking the fifth edition of the Dutch Darts Championship. The tournament began in 2018 in Maastricht, where Ian White triumphed 8-5 over Ricky Evans. In 2022, the event moved to Zwolle, with Michael Smith edging out Danny Noppert 8-7 in a thrilling final. Noppert remains the only Dutchman to have reached the final of this tournament.
Since the 2022 edition, this tournament does appear annually on the Euro Tour calendar. However, for the third time in a row it got a different location. In 2023 it was Leeuwarden that hosted the Dutch Darts Championship. The title was a triumph for Dave Chisnall after an 8-5 victory over Luke Humphries. Starting in 2024, the event will be held in Rosmalen, which is now playing for the second year in a row. Josh Rock is the defending champion, after taking the win against Jonny Clayton (8-4).

Saturday night begins with a belter as Dirk van Duijvenbode takes on James Wade. The Dutchman arrives in confident mood after demolishing Teemu Harju 6-0 in the opening round. Van Duijvenbode has enjoyed a strong Euro Tour campaign, reaching the quarterfinals in Austria and the semi-finals in Sindelfingen, where he also beat Wade en route. The Machine, meanwhile, made the final four at the Belgian Darts Open earlier this year.
William O’Connor v Boris Krčmar
Dutch fans had hoped to see Gerwyn Price take to the stage, but ‘The Iceman’ pulled out on Friday. In his place, William O’Connor was drafted in as a last-minute replacement by the PDC and inherited Price’s seeded position. It looked like a golden chance for home favourite Gian van Veen to go deep, but ‘GVV The Giant’ fell 6-5 to a superb Boris Krčmar, who now faces the Irishman.
Ross Smith v Raymond van Barneveld
Raymond van Barneveld is the second Dutchman on tonight’s billing. The five-time World Champion came through a nervy all-Dutch affair against Jerry Hendriks, edging a 6-5 win on Friday. Up next is Ross Smith, one of the most consistent players on the Pro Tour in 2025. ‘Smudger’ has already claimed a Players Championship title this season and was runner-up at the Austrian Darts Open. He’s reached at least the third round at all six Euro Tour events so far, making the final night on four occasions.
Peter Wright v Wessel Nijman
Wessel Nijman narrowly escaped an early exit in Round One, surviving three match darts from Berry van Peer before eventually scraping through 6-5. His reward is a showdown with two-time World Champion Peter Wright. After a difficult 2024, ‘Snakebite’ is showing signs of resurgence this season. He’s reached a Players Championship final and made three Euro Tour quarterfinals, though inconsistency still plagues his title aspirations.
Are we going to see Peter Wright in orange at the Autotron?
Luke Humphries v Cameron Menzies
Cameron Menzies was fortunate to survive Round One after Wesley Plaisier spurned six match darts. Now, ‘Cammy’ faces a far sterner test in top seed Luke Humphries. ‘Cool Hand’ has yet to hit top gear on the Euro Tour in 2025, with a semi-final at the International Darts Open his best showing so far – albeit having skipped two of the six events to date.
Stephen Bunting v Niko Springer
A compelling clash awaits as German prodigy Niko Springer meets Stephen Bunting. Springer impressed with a 6-3 victory over Jermaine Wattimena on Friday, reaching the last 32 on the Euro Tour for the third time this year. His opponent is in formidable form – Bunting recently claimed his first ever Euro Tour title at the International Darts Open and will be eyeing another deep run.
Josh Rock v Ricardo Pietreczko
The evening concludes with defending champion Josh Rock beginning his title defence. The Northern Irishman was untouchable in Rosmalen last year, and he returns to face Ricardo Pietreczko. The German, brought in as a late replacement, made the most of his opportunity by dispatching Karel Sedláček 6-1 in Round One. But ‘Pikachu’ now faces a huge step up in class against the reigning champion.

TV Guide
The tournament will be broadcast by Viaplay and PDC TV. As usual with Euro Tour tournaments, the Dutch Darts Championship consists of three tournament days. The afternoon sessions start daily at 12 p.m., while the evening sessions start at 6 p.m.
The first round will take place on Friday. The 16 Pro Tour players are then paired with one of the 16 players who managed to get through the various qualifying tournaments. The top-16 seeded players enter the tournament on Saturday in the second round. The conclusion of the tournament follows on Sunday, with the third round first in the afternoon session. Sunday night the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals will follow.
Distribution of prize money
All participants starting from the first round are guaranteed £1250 in prize money, while the top-16 enter from the second round and receive £2,500 anyway. This amount eventually rises to the grand prize of £30,000 for the winner.
An important detail is that players who are automatically seeded via the Order of Merit and lose their first match will not be awarded prize money on the various rankings. This does apply to qualifiers who are later designated as seeded by the withdrawal of others.
