SMITH SURVIVES! 😮💨 Michael Smith survives SIX match darts from Wessel Nijman to reach the quarter-finals! 📺 bit.ly/24WSFLive #WSFinals | R2
We begin a jam-packed final day of the 2024 World Series of Darts Finals with the four quarter-finals on Sunday afternoon. All eight players in the final eight have won a major tournament before, four of whom are even (former) world champions.
It is the tenth time the World Series of Darts Finals has been scheduled. This year the tournament will be played for the fifth time at the AFAS Live in Amsterdam. Who will advance to the finals? Read our preview here.

We kick off the afternoon session with a delightful affair between Luke Littler and Chris Dobey. Both men have already had two tough games. Littler started the tournament with a 6-5 win over Ross Smith, before being responsible for the elimination of Raymond van Barneveld (6-4). Dobey first eliminated Dimitri van den Bergh (6-5) and then won 6-4 over Boris Krcmar.
It will be the second time the two Englishmen have faced each other. They previously met at Players Championship 15 at the end of July. Then Littler won 7-2 over Dobey in the semifinals, after which 'The Nuke' eventually took the title as well.
An absolute cracker in the AFAS Live Sunday afternoon; the reigning world champion against the three-time world champion. If both men play as well as they did Saturday, we will get to see a lot of spectacle. After a 6-4 victory over Jonny Clayton, Van Gerwen won with 106 average from Danny Noppert (6-3). Humphries also reached an average of 106 in his match win against Damon Heta (6-5), after 'Cool Hand Luke' had previously swept aside Haupai Puha (6-3).
Van Gerwen once possessed a fantastic record against Humphries, but that is long gone. Van Gerwen won thirteen of the first eighteen confrontations between them. The last eight encounters, however, were all won by Humphries, so the balance is now 13-13.
Once again Peter Wright has entered the final stage of a tournament. The Scot first recorded a resounding 6-1 victory over Dave Chisnall, and was then also too strong with large figures for Jeff Smith (6-2). Daryl Gurney already has two great victories behind him: 'Superchin' first eliminated Dirk van Duijvenbode (6-4) and then also defeated Gerwyn Price (6-3).
It will be the 36th time Wright and Gurney have faced each other in an official duel. Twenty times the victory went to Wright, 12 times Gurney won and three times they tied when that was still possible in the old format of Premier League Darts.
Only one more spot is up for grabs in the semifinals at the World Series of Darts Finals. That will be an Englishman anyway, because in the last quarterfinal Rob Cross will face Michael Smith. Both players could have already been out. Cross survived four matchdarts against Doets on Saturday night, while Nijman left six matchdarts unused against Smith.
Cross has a pretty good record against his compatriot. Of the previous 28 encounters, no fewer than twenty were won by Cross. However, the last two clashes between them were won by Smith.
The tournament will be broadcast in its entirety on ITV4. The first broadcast begins on Friday, Sept. 13 at 6 p.m.. Then the first part of the first round of the World Series of Darts Finals will be on the program.
In the afternoon session on Saturday, Sept. 14, the final eight matches from the first round will be played. The winners of these matches, like Friday night's winners, will compete in the second round on Saturday night. The eight remaining players will make their appearance on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 15, during the quarterfinals. On Sunday night, the denouement of the major tournament in the Netherlands will be with the semifinals and finals.
All participants are guaranteed 5,000 pounds of starting money. If a player wins his first round, that amount increases to 10,000 pounds. A spot in the quarterfinals of the World Series of Darts Finals earns £17,500.
Four players remain on the final night. The players in the semifinals return home with £25,000 in prize money anyway. The finalists secure £40,000, while the winner takes home the top prize of £80,000. The prize money won does not count toward the world rankings.
