Only half of the seeds survived on Day Two of the
German Darts Grand Prix but two of them sealed their spot in the Last 16 to conclude proceedings as
Ryan Searle and
Michael Smith moved through.
Both ending debut runs on the
European Tour at that with Searle seeing off Danny Baggish 6-2 in a display which featured a 100.2 average and 66% on the doubles from 'Heavy Metal'.
He hasn't reached a Quarter-Final for a considerable amount of time on the European Tour despite his recent brilliant form but will have a good chance to do so at least when he faces Martin Schindler with Keane Barry and Martin Lukeman in the same quarter.
While for Smith, similarly it is an open quarter with Luke Humphries next up in the same section as Wesley Plaisier and Dirk van Duijvenbode with likely Michael van Gerwen the next road block in the Quarter-Finals if he gets through.
He saw off Berry van Peer 6-4 ending the debut run of 'Bionic' on the European Tour with a 101 average with the main flourish from the Dutchman coming with a 115 checkout to ask the question towards the end.
But the 140's throughout the tie were the superb part of Smith's game as he hit 11 in all with 46.2% on the doubles to move through.
