Sedlacek dumps out Lewis, Gurney digs deep to deny Wenig

The opening day of action is complete at the German Darts Championship in Hildesheim and for Adrian Lewis, he will play no further part after being thrashed 5-2 by Karel Sedlacek.

Sedlacek who recently after losing his Tour Card at the turn of the year qualified for the next few European Tours will aim to do a Krzysztof Ratajski and make himself a force to be reckoned with.

It was a good start as he averaged 94.42 in seeing off Lewis with two ton plus checkouts and 35.3% on the doubles compared to only 2/14 from his opponent.

'Evil Charlie' in the tie surged 5-1 up but missed four match darts allowing Lewis a potential lifeline but that didn't last long as the Czech ace pinned 112 to claim the win.

Joining him in Saturday's action is Daryl Gurney who had to dig deep to see off Lukas Wenig, one of the home hopes 6-4.

This was evidenced with 15 darts at double from 'Superchin' but Wenig couldn't take advantage and it is Gurney into Day Two.

So is Kim Huybrechts after he punished missed darts at double of his own. He saw off Joe Murnan 6-3 with a flawless display of finishing completing 6/6 compared to 17 missed darts at double from his opponent.
