Sky Sports commentator Rod Studd returns home five weeks after suffering a stroke

Rod Studd, a familiar voice and face of Sky Sports' darts coverage suffered a stroke in late May but good news has been revealed as he is now back home after being looked after in a specialist unit.

Studd's fellow commentator and friend, Stuart Pyke initially revealed the news of his stroke on Twitter: “Lots of people have been asking about our good friend Rod Studd. We can confirm that sadly Rod has suffered a stroke.

“He’s being very well cared for in a specialist unit and is stable. His wife Louise and two boys are so grateful for all the good wishes. We will keep you posted.”

He gave an update on Thursday morning saying that despite there being 'a long road ahead', he is back home and is making progress.

"Rod is home! Five weeks after his stroke, our friend is back with his family. Still a long road ahead with rehab and physio. But all very encouraging and he would like to say a huge thanks to everyone for all their good wishes!"
