Michael Smith is through to the Quarter-Finals of the 2022 Masters after seeing off Krzysztof Ratajski in a quality display to open up his campaign in Milton Keynes.
Smith averaged 105.5 in a 10-6 win over 'The Polish Eagle' in his first game since his World Championship final defeat and hit eight 180's and a high checkout of 164 en route.
'Bully Boy' started off superbly taking out 107 to move 4-1 up on Ratajski at the first interval. But Ratajski came straight back to make it 4-4 albeit Smith regained control at the next interval making it 6-4.
A turning point followed as Smith produced an epic 164 checkout to go 8-4 up. He went seven darts into a perfect leg but lost the leg as Ratajski made it 9-5 and he followed up with a 104 checkout.
But that proved a mere consolation as Smith concluded the tie to move through.
