Ryan Searle has claimed a second PDC ranking title on Day Two of PDC
Super Series 6 by seeing off
Peter Wright in a decider 8-7.
Searle who has reached multiple finals this year without being able to get over the line once more would have been thinking the worst when it went all the way but he composed himself to see off the recent World Matchplay winner.
Searle missed double 18 for a 156 to start off but returned for double four for an early hold.
But he began missing doubles unlike the rest of the day and Wright punished to break and move 2-1 up.
Only for Snakebite to squander six darts himself to allow Searle back for parity. This theme continued with the counter sitting on 19 missed darts at doubles for the match but despite that, 'Heavy Metal' went 3-2 up.
A 180 and a 174 set up 147 for a nine-darter but he only left double 20 for a 10-dart leg after failing to go past 7 darts which he pinned to make it 4-2.
But he couldn't consolidate and Wright went was able to level up before having darts for the lead which he couldn't take. Searle came back for his usual double 20 for the lead again at 5-4 to edge closer to the title.
But an 81 checkout for an 11-darter saw Wright level again at 5-5. Searle though kept his cool on double one to once again lead at 6-5.
A pivotal moment though came up in the context of the final as Wright took a gamble by laying up instead of going for 127 which Searle was also on and the gamble paid off as Wright went one away at 7-6 up.
It was Snakebite though who faltered with a missed match dart and Searle returned for double 20 to send it all the way at 7-7.
Wright left himself on 76 if Searle faltered but Searle didn't as he claimed the title on double 20 from a 72 checkout.
