Teehan after brilliant debut win over Smith: 'I want to make an impression and show how good I can be'

Ciaran Teehan claimed a brilliant debut win over Ross Smith as he continues his great form he has exhibited all year long.

Teehan spoke afterwards and said he didn't expect to win in straight sets especially with the quality year that 'Smudger' has had but that he wants to show how good he is on the Alexandra Palace stage.

"I'm just delighted to win, I came here to win obviously but I didn't expect to win 3-0 to be honest because Ross has had a great year."

"I just wanted to go up there and play well. Today I was a bit nervous but I started practising very good so I relaxed as the day went on and started fancying the game."

"When I got the first set under my belt I started to believe now."

"I want to make an impression and show how good I can be, I feel I can go far. I did play very well there but I can play even better. It's just a matter of doing it easier said than done."
