Jonny Clayton managed to qualify for the third round of the World Darts Championship on Monday afternoon after a particularly exciting match. The 50-year-old Welshman defeated his Northern Irish opponent Mickey Mansell 3-2 after a decisive leg in the final set. But even apart from darts, Clayton sometimes finds himself in predicaments, we learned in his podcast.

In the podcast, Vincent van der Voort deepens a remarkable story about his Welsh colleague. "He used to have a snake at home and I don't think those are very nice pets. They had that snake in bed sometimes. Then they had their baby with them and that snake would lie all stretched out every time," says Van der Voort.
"That animal was stretching to strangle that baby. So you kind of have to have a good understanding of your pet. That snake keeps stretching and making itself long. That he knows how long how he has to be to strangle him."
Jonny Clayton takes on Daryl Gurney in the third round of the PDC World Darts Championship.
"He also told me that another snake of his was in such a cage and was no longer eating. He said to a friend of his: feed him. Then he attacked him."

Snakes, by the way, do seem to be popular pets with darters. "I remember when Michael (van Gerwen) was just dating Daphne, he also had a snake in the house and I didn't even get in there."

Van der Voort, who has a pet dog of his own, incidentally does not understand what people think about having a battle as a pet. "It's also not like he's happy that you come home, that he's standing with his head like: nice to have you here!"
Clayton returns to action on Friday, December 27, when 'The Ferret' will take on Daryl Gurney in the afternoon session.
