"The intensity killed me": Fatigued Rob Cross frustrated by running out of steam in Copenhagen final

Rob Cross failed to win a World Series of Darts tournament for the second time this year. 'Voltage', who managed to win the Dutch Darts Masters earlier this year by beating Stephen Bunting in the final, now had to lose to the same Bunting in the final of the Nordic Darts Masters. Cross played a strong tournament, but fatigue eventually broke him in the final.
Cross has had a disappointing Premier League Darts, but showed this weekend that he should definitely not be written off yet. The 34-year-old was superb reaching the Quarter-Finals with an impressive display of strength, convincingly beating Chris Dobey and notching three 100+ finishes in the process.
In the semifinals, it was Gerwyn Price who was defeated. The Welshman had eliminated Luke Humphries 6-3 earlier in the evening in a high-class match, but could not stop Cross. With a 7-4 victory, the former world champion secured a spot in the final against Bunting.

But in the final, then, things didn't work out for Cross. “It wasn’t meant to be for me - I probably ran out of steam in the end,” said Cross.“Credit to Stephen, he was absolutely brilliant and I just didn’t have it in the end.
"For me, I need to carry on fighting. I wanted to win so badly here, but the intensity killed me and I just didn’t perform in the final."

The World Series of Darts continues June 27-28 at New York's iconic Madison Square Garden, where the PDC descends for the 2025 US Darts Masters.
A week later, on July 4 and 5, the World Series circus travels on to Gliwice for the Poland Darts Masters.

- Agree with much of this though as stated on the Rob cross thread and assuming he has a manager, he has not done a very good job. - This setup gives a free ride to guys at the bottom end of the ProTour qualification, where you get first round European Tour entry and Players Championship seeding. - Would agree that winning the League phase is the pinnacle. Imagine the tragedy if MVG had qualified without winning a night in fourth place then won the play offs. It just shows that the premier league is a money making jaunt for a few elites and the PDC and a night out for pissheads. Now it’s over its World Series time, another non ranked exhibition series thats no longer really needed. Bring back some serious tournaments like the Las Vegas Desert Classic..Mysstree02-06-2025
- it actually benefits humphries to agree with you as it'll mean he's on a list of three rather than four who've done it. that said, the premier league is by far one of the most difficult tournaments to win so i don't personally disparage that achievement too much, especially for players who've qualified by right rather than invitation (although i'd argue winning the league phase is probably more of an achievement than winning the playoffs).colt01-06-2025
- It’s not the ‘Triple Crown’, thats the three Worlds, Championship, Matchplay and Grand Prix. May carry more prize money however the Premier League is still just a glorified promotional tool for drunken non dart fans.
