"The king of all hangovers" – Dirk van Duijvenbode shares a hilarious tale about a struggling Vincent van der Voort

Vincent van der Voort has had his fair share of memorable nights out, but one King’s Day celebration left him regretting his choices more than most. A brutal hangover, a rough flight to Wigan, and a desperate taxi ride all made for an unforgettable experience—at least for those around him.

Dirk van Duijvenbode shared the hilarious tale on the Darts Draait Door podcast, recalling how his fellow Dutchman was in no state to travel after a night of festivities. “You were in a bad way,” Van Duijvenbode laughed. Van der Voort could only agree. “I had the king of all hangovers. It was really, really bad,” he admitted.

Despite his best intentions to take it easy—knowing he had a flight the next morning—things quickly spiraled out of control. “I go out every year with my friends on King’s Night. I thought I’d be sensible because I had to fly the next day. That didn’t quite work out,” he confessed. The consequences hit hard at the airport. “He was already miserable before we even got on the plane,” Van Duijvenbode chuckled. “Then, during takeoff, when the seatbelt sign was on, he asked a flight attendant if he could go to the toilet. He just about made it.”

The struggle didn’t end there. After multiple trips to the airplane bathroom, Van der Voort was still in bad shape when they landed. In the taxi to the hotel, things took another turn. “Ten meters from the entrance, I asked Dirk if he could take my suitcase and told the driver to stop,” he recalled. “You know that moment when you feel the saliva building up in your mouth? That’s when you know it’s over. I barely made it.”

Even hours later, the suffering continued. “You’d think after throwing up ten or twelve times, it would stop at some point. But nope, it just kept going,” Van der Voort said, now able to laugh about it. “Man, I was a wreck. I lost count of how many times I threw up.”
