The final tournament of the 2024 World Series of Darts takes place in Hamilton this weekend with the New Zealand Darts Masters. Luke Humphries will take on Kayden Milne in the opening round. There, the 29-year-old hopes to take revenge for his poor performance at the previous World Series tournament.
The New Zealand Darts Masters is the seventh and final tournament this year, after the World Series of Darts previously touched down in Bahrain, the Netherlands, USA, Denmark, Poland and Australia. New Zealand once again features some of the best players in the world competing against some of the best players from Oceania. The World Series of Darts Finals will follow later this year in Amsterdam.
Humphries is having a great year with a final win at the World Matchplay in addition to his world title. At the World Series of Darts, however, he did not manage to win a tournament this year. Last week he went down in the quarterfinals of the Australian Darts Masters against Dimitri Van den Bergh.
'Cool Hand Luke' is therefore motivated to for his title tilt in New Zealand. `"The World Series hasn’t gone to plan for me so far, so I am hungry to win a title and I’d love it to be here in New Zealand,” declared the World Matchplay champion.
Humphries will be accompanied for this trip by his dad so time well spent. "It’s been an amazing trip so far. Coming to the other side of the world with my dad is a dream for both of us and we’ve made some great memories.
“It’s a long way home and I’d love to be travelling back with the title ahead of a busy end to the year.”
If Humphries manages to qualify for the quarterfinals he will take on the winner of the tie between Michael Smith and Jeremy Fagg.
