"There's just no point in me travelling, wasting my time whilst I'm getting booed": Luke Littler threatens similar boycott as Germany in Holland amid frosty reception

Luke Littler has threatened to boycott future events in the Netherlands after referee Charlie Corstorphine had to step in amid booing tonight by the crowd as he looks to conduct a similar move to his boycott of Germany.

Littler is through to the quarter-finals of the World Series of Darts Finals, where he takes on Jonny Clayton this afternoon, and 'The Nuke' will face the cauldron again. But against Nathan Aspinall, who he beat in a decider, he said that it was a classic with both duking it out until the very end.

"I think you've just got to look back at it as a classic game," said Littler to Online Darts.

"Maybe, I don't know what the averages were, but playing against each other it felt really good. Like I said on stage, the first two sessions didn't feel right, didn't feel good, and then the last session I felt a bit better about myself."

Going into the last leg decider with a superb record, Littler said it was about zoning in and that in that case even he wasn't particularly bothered even about the bull and said that it adds pressure on to hold the throw as Aspinall saw himself.

"Yeah, I mean, I sort of thought, obviously, when he hits the 60, I mean, like, at least a tonne or a 140 and then going into 180.

"So now, thinking about it, do you win the bull or do you not win the bull? So you throw first in the game. Obviously you always want to throw first, but there's that pressure, and obviously Nathan took a bit of time to throw his first dart out. And then I had to capitalise."

The clean sweep is still on, and he first touched upon the conditions and said that he needed to just get his head down and do the job.

"Yeah, it's still on. And if I'm going to go all the way, it's going to be tough conditions. I know what to expect.

"But yeah, I said in my pre-match interview tonight, just get your head down and get the job done. I think I only gave it a big 180, the 50, treble 10 and double 10 last start. But that wasn't against the crowd. I didn't do anything for the crowd tonight. It was just for myself."

Issues that also annoyed Aspinall to the point the referee had to get involved, as he didn't know who was booing whom, and then it got to both as they were trying to face off.

"Yeah, I think obviously I'm not one to say anything. Obviously Nathan said it because it was doing his head in. In his head he was like, they're not whistling me, but they're whistling Luke. And that's when he said to Charlie, It's doing my head in now. But yeah, I've just got to get on with it. I know what to expect every time."

But will he stage a similar boycott to Germany? Littler admitted it is likely if he doesn't get the same respect. Ironically, he is due to stay in the Netherlands next week to play ProTours, albeit he won't get booed, as it is behind closed doors. But will shut the door certainly on other tournaments such as Maastricht. "100%. Obviously, I don't know about the Germans. I've not been for a very long time. We'll have to see in Dortmund if it changes, if it stays the same.

"But yeah, if the Dutch stay like this, then I'm not going to do any Euro Tours over there. There's just no point in me travelling, wasting my time whilst I'm getting booed.

"I just want to play my darts, obviously sign autographs and stuff. Because the past two nights I've done nothing. I've just walked off stage, not thanked anyone. There's no point thanking everyone when they boo me."

Asked whether the big names have now missed their chance to beat him, he never rules it out. But also said that, like, it proved when Ross Smith could've beaten him two years ago, fluff your lines at your peril.

"Yeah, again, I said on stage two years ago, I think Ross missed two darts in the first round and then went on to win the title.

"Obviously, there were a few legs near towards the end where Nathan could have won, and I could have won, but we both missed. I don't want to say it's their chance gone.

"I've just got to focus on the next. No late FC tonight; I've got to get my head down and play in the afternoon."
