Kim Huybrechts saw off Peter Wright coming from a set down to end his
World Darts Championship title defence with a whimper.
Huybrechts heads through to face his World Cup teammate Dimitri van den Bergh and he spoke about how a defeat like this can ruin a season or a win in his case can make it.
“To beat one of the best players in the world, the reigning champion, it means the world,” said Huybrechts.“It wasn’t my best performance. Peter didn’t even play his B-game, but I took my chances where I could and I’ve done what I had to do, so I’m very happy with that.“Darts in Belgium is massive now. It’s huge. We’ve got an all-Belgian last 16 game and that is massive. It’s never been as big as this moment, so I’m very happy and very thankful.”
“The World’s make your season, if you had a terrible season and you have a good World Championship, it just makes up for everything and the other way around, you can have a brilliant season and you can lose the first or second round and it ruins your season. This game ruins his (Wright) season.”
