Nathan Aspinall is in the race to qualify for the playoffs of the
Premier League Darts. After 12 rounds of play, "The Asp" is in third place, but he will face a formidable opponent on Thursday night.
In Liverpool, Aspinall will take on reigning world champion Luke Humphries. Last week the two Englishmen met in Rotterdam. Aspinall won then and captured his second weekly title of this Premier League.
“I think it’s fantastic - credit to all the lads. This is the most enjoyable Premier League I’ve been involved in, and there’s still a lot to play for.“I think the standard has been ridiculous, and I think it’s testament to all of us who are performing week-in, week-out.”
Over the next four rounds of play, Aspinall hopes to secure qualification for the playoffs at the O2 Arena in London. With 23 points, the Stockport-based darter has a three-point lead over number five Michael Smith, so 'The Asp' by no means has room to rest on his laurels.
“Last year I missed out [on the Play-Offs] on nightly wins and I was on 24 points,” recalled Aspinall. “We said a few weeks ago 26 points would probably be enough [to make the top four], but now I'm not sure!
