Thornton still harbours PDC Tour Card aims after World Seniors glory: "My biggest aim after that is to defend the titles I've won"

Robert Thornton sealed a second WSDT TV title on Sunday evening winning the inaugural World Seniors Darts Matchplay by seeing off Phil Taylor in the final.

Thornton who claimed the World Seniors Championship in February saw off Phil Taylor overturning a 7-5 deficit to seal a 12-10 win over 'The Power'.

Post match, he said he doesn't believe Taylor hasn't been putting the effort in and that his next aim is to return to the PDC.

“To win it, especially against the 16-time champion of the world, you can’t ask for anything sweeter than that,” said Thornton.

“Phil says he’s not practicing – don’t kid me! He’s still practicing, he wants to win these, everybody does.

“My biggest aim is to get my PDC Tour Card back and if I wasn’t to do it, my biggest aim after that is to defend the titles I’ve won and maybe win more.”
