THROWBACK VIDEO: Priestley claims 1994 WDC World Darts Championship with brilliant Taylor win

The 29th edition of the PDC World Darts Championship starts on December 15. Ahead of the start of this tournament, Dartsnews looks back on some beautiful and remarkable events in the history of this event.

The very first edition took place in 1994, about eighteen months after the split from the BDO. At that time, the new federation was called the World Darts Council (WDC). This would later change to the Professional Darts Corporation, better known as the PDC.

At the time, 24 players competed for the World Championship. Dennis Priestley and Phil Taylor reached the final, which was won by Priestley with 6-1 in sets.
