As the 2020 UK Open approaches starting this Friday in Minehead, we take a look at the highest tournament averages in the history of the event dubbed as the FA Cup of Darts.
The top tournament average comes from Phil Taylor at the 2015
UK Open despite the legend not winning the tournament where he hit a 109.17 through the tournament with some of his standout games including a 111 average against Vincent van der Voort and a 108 average despite falling to Peter Wright.
Michael van Gerwen's winning tournament average also appear on the list as the only other player on the tournament averages with 105.57 in the 2015 edition. Phil Taylor also appears a further three times on the list in 2009, 2013 and 2010 with 107.38, 106.81 and 106.43.
This in itself shows once again the dominance that Taylor had in this tournament that he could produce these averages in multiple years on the bounce.
Can anyone else trouble these tournament averages this time around though?
