From Friday, September 27 to Sunday, September 29, the Swiss Darts Trophy 2024 is scheduled to take place at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel. The Swiss city is hosting the twelfth Euro Tour tournament of the year. It is first time this Euro Tour tournament will be held.
The tournament will be broadcast by PDC TV. As usual with Euro Tour tournaments, the Swiss Darts Trophy consists of three tournament days. The afternoon sessions will start at 12:00 BST time on Friday and Saturday, while the evening sessions will then start at 18:00. On Sunday, the sessions start at 11:00 and 17:00.
Many big names are competing in the penultimate Euro Tour tournament after the summer break. Most of the world's top players are present at the Euro Tour event in Switzerland. The placement list is headed by Dave Chisnall, while players such as Luke Humphries, Gerwyn Price, Ross Smith, Luke Littler, Gian van Veen and Michael van Gerwen are also among the seeded players.
The sixteen Order of Merit qualifiers were also guaranteed an automatic starting spot at the Swiss Darts Trophy, but must start from the first round. This includes Jonny Clayton, Michael Smith, Raymond van Barneveld, Peter Wright, James Wade, Dimitri van den Bergh and Nathan Aspinall with others sealing their route through the Tour Card route.
The first round will take place on Friday. The 16 Order of Merit qualifiers and the winners from the various qualifying tournaments then make their appearance. The top-16 seeded players enter the tournament on Saturday in the second round. Sunday will see the denouement of the tournament, starting with the third round in the afternoon session. Sunday evening will be followed by the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals.
It is the first time the PDC has hosted a tournament in Switzerland. Earlier this year, Euro Tour tournaments were played in Belgium, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Hungary. Later this year, another event will be completed in the Czech Republic.
