The schedule has been released for the evening session on Saturday at the 2020 UK Open Darts with some bumper ties on the way to decide the Quarter-Finalists in Minehead.
Starting proceedings off on the Main Stage are two of the most in-form players in Darts right now in Gerwyn Price and Gabriel Clemens.
Price eased through earlier seeing off 'Rapid' Ricky Evans in a
10-3 victory in a match which was completed in double quick time as he moved over to Stage 2 for his fifth round game.
Clemens on the other hand has been going about his business with the German Number Two who without winning a ranking title yet in his PDC career has been consistently reaching the latter stages of tournaments and this is another example. He saw off Andy Boulton in a 10-6 win to end the run of 'X Factor'; he will get his chance to potentially shine on the big stage against 'The Iceman'.
Then it is probably the tie of the round as James Wade faces off against Michael van Gerwen. 'The Machine' is of course a two time champion in the event; but has not shown form really of note this year like he has done in previous years. He went about his business today easing past an out of sorts Kim Huybrechts 10-1.
He will get a chance to face off against one of his main rivals in the World Number One who he has a good record against on the big stage and cement his aspirations; for a potential third crown in the event.
Anderson and Wright to continue charge?
Then it is Jelle Klaasen who seems to be back with a bang of sorts in this event, he eased past Steve West 10-1 with victories over Jason Askew and William Borland to go alongside that with his average steadily rising towards the 100 mark.
He takes on Gary Anderson who saw off local favourite Simon Stevenson who once again had a run in this tournament, 'The Flying Scotsman' claimed the title two years ago albeit with the tournament played behind closed doors; he needs to defend this title realistically as a lot of money will come off his ranking. Can the Scot return to the winners' circle?
Then finally a potential cracker between Premier League stars Peter Wright and Daryl Gurney . Gurney has been through some real tough battles with his match against William O'Connor showing that to it's full when he was on the brink and produced a miraculous comeback.
'Superchin' though knows what it takes to win on this stage; Wright has been playing well but the latter will know he is in for a battle later this evening.
Stage Two set to feature Cross, Dobey and Hughes
The second stage will also be in use this evening with four cracking ties which due to the players involved still in the draw; all four could easily be main stage.
To start off is one of the players of the tournament so far in Chris Dobey. His match against Krzysztof Ratajski is seen by most as probably the best game of darts this year; he followed that up with a superb win over Simon Whitlock. 'Hollywood' has been climbing the rankings as of late and his rise will potentially continue later this evening.
He takes on Jonny Clayton who produced a similarly brilliant display against Joe Cullen averaging 102 in a 10-4 win as he became one of the first players through this afternoon.
Then it is Jamie Hughes who seems to be heading towards his best darts again as 'Yozza' who's throw is one of the best to watch when it is on song faces off against Mensur Suljovic - who ended the run of Dirk van Duijvenbode.
Speaking of runs, Kyle McKinstry is the remaining non Tour Card holder in the tournament and 'The Village Man' has made major strides this past weekend and this continued with victory over Martin Schindler - he faces Dimitri van den Bergh who defeated an out of sorts Matthew Edgar.
Then finally a Target Darts/Nevada battle awaits as Rob Cross and Stephen Bunting take to the stage, the former wasn't expected by many to
get past Michael Smith due to his confidence and form but he will hope that it can be a catalyst for a brilliant end of the tournament. Bunting came through an all St Helens battle with Alan Tabern 10-2 and is having a brilliant weekend himself.
