Van Barneveld could make his comeback at this year's World Championship

Raymond van Barneveld announced in September he will make his comeback on the darts circuit. The five-time World Champion revealed his plans to attend the Q-School in 2021, where he wants to win one of the PDC Tour Cards.

However there is a small chance he will make his return at an earlier stage. The PDC organises normally a World Championship qualifier for players from the Benelux (Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg). A PDC Tour Card is not needed to attend this event.

This qualifying tournament normally takes place in October or November, but due to the corona crisis, this qualifier has not yet been confirmed. If it goes ahead, Van Barneveld will consider taking part in the tournament.

He told this in conversation with fellow darts player Jerry Hendriks, who now also has his own YouTube channel. ''I have to think about that. Whether I want to or whether it is too soon. But on the other hand, I will be practicing five days a week, then we will see if I'm making progression. And if I make that progression, then I could decide to sign up for it'', Barney said.

“As far as I know from the past, usually around 100 people participate. That is difficult to win such a tournament, but a Van Barneveld on his A game can do anything'', he added.
