At the end of September,
Raymond van Barneveld announced his comeback and he says he feels reborn and that he is different to when he retired.
"I wasn't myself anymore, I was a miserable guy. It was needed that I needed to make the step for myself. I'm going to enjoy darts more now. I'm going to do exhibitions and let people see the real Ray but what happened since February-March then Coronavirus came. I did nothing anymore, no exhibitions, no clinics and I started missing it," said Van Barneveld to The Darts Show Podcast.
"To be fair when Ben came with the offer, it was an offer I couldn't refuse. It was fantastic, he came with three or four companies that wanted to sponsor me."
On Q-School and the preparation ahead of that, the doyen of Dutch darts said that he is improving all the time with Jeffrey de Zwaan also known as the 'Benji-team' and that he is feeling good.
"But of course we need from scratch again from January at Q-School if it's going to happen. We still don't know. But I'm more positive which is very dangerous to say at the moment. I'm feeling a different guy right now, I'm really happy with this opportunity."
"I really found the hunger back especially now with Jeffrey de Zwaan. We practice every single day together, I'm already averaging 100 in games so I'm doing really good. So maybe this needed to happen.
"I wasn't myself anymore, I wasn't happy. I was in the middle of a divorce which I still am, private problems. You can't do the things you want if you're head is not there."
