Raymond van Barneveld lost out to Rob Cross in the second round of the PDC World Darts Championship and while it wasn't the desired result for the doyen of Dutch darts, he looked back on it with fondness.
"Yesterday’s game has not ended with the desired result," said Van Barneveld.
"It was emotional to be on this stage again with all these fans shouting my name.
"The moment I worked so hard for the last couple of months.
"I want to thank all the fans that gave me support in the crowd as well as on social media. I am thankful for you guys.
"I am still feeling motivated and will come back stronger next year."
Following his defeat though, he subsequently tested positive for Covid-19 so is currently isolating.
