Van Barneveld sets up Cross showdown after superb return to PDC World Darts Championship against Ilagan

Two years ago, Raymond van Barneveld lost out to Darin Young and his career was over but on his return to the PDC World Darts Championship stage, he claimed a 3-0 success over Lourence Ilagan.

Van Barneveld averaged 96 with two 180's, 36% on the doubles and a high checkout in 121 and he has set up a top tungsten showdown of former World Champions against Rob Cross next.

Ilagan pinned a 180 and left 40 putting pressure on Van Barneveld who missed 62. The Filipino ace missed his chance though and Barney took it out.

The former pinned a 50 checkout, Barney missed 143 for a 2-1 lead but Ilagan was well back allowing the doyen of Dutch darts back for double 16 and 2-1. A 62 checkout saw him conclude it and he went off stage at 1-0 up.

Van Barneveld pounced after Ilagan missed darts to claim an opening hold. He followed that up with a 60 checkout. A 121 checkout saw Barney go 2-0 in sets ahead.

Double 13 saw Van Barneveld hold throw and go 1-0 up. Ilagan held throw after Barney missed a chance for another break.

He missed bull for a 68 checkout and Barney returned for double five. A 180 and double nine saw Van Barneveld claim victory.
