Raymond van Barneveld is through to a second round meeting with Gerwyn Price on Sunday afternoon at the German Darts Grand Prix surviving four match darts in the match of the day against Ian White.

Van Barneveld and White hit four ton plus checkouts between them and couldn't stop pinning the huge checkouts but when it came to the decider, both kept missing chances to win before the Dutch legend fell over the line also hitting a 102 average.

White started the tie by levelling up at 1-1 with a 113 checkout but with a 124 checkout, Van Barneveld held a slender lead but the huge finishing continued.

White pinned a 161 on the bull for 3-3 and parity but Van Barneveld hit two double eight to go 4-3 up and was throwing to go one away. He missed two darts for 5-3 and White took aim at 98 getting one dart at double 12 which he pinned for 4-4.

Van Barneveld missed 170 on the bull to break again and White hit an 81 checkout in clinical fashion to make it 5-4.

White left 46 for the match but didn't get a shot with Van Barneveld hitting a 131 checkout to hold on double 16. Van Barneveld hit 180 to leave 164 and White didn't get a treble allowing 'Barney' likely two shots to win.

White couldn't get the second treble for 146 and Van Barneveld took aim at 82. He missed double 20 though and White returned only to miss two match darts. Van Barneveld and White both missed multiple more match darts and finally the Dutch legend hit double two.

While from a thriller to a true darting marathon as Liam Maendl-Lawrance who as last week evidenced is known for his slow methodical style saw off Robert Owen 6-5 in a match that lasted over 40 minutes.

The local hero in Munich produced a blockbuster end despite the drawn out affair with a 129 on the bull. But he won't be joined in the second round by Florian Hempel with Ross Smith easing to a 6-1 win with a 101 average and 60% on the doubles.
