Despite starting before UK Q-School, the opening day of action at PDC European Q-School is finally complete with Richard Veenstra, Benito van de Pas, Niko Springer and Tytus Kanik among the standout names who will not play now until Thursday's final stage.
Unlike the UK where many of the stand-out names in the last round lost, there wasn't such issues in Kalkar as Van de Pas edged past Jamie Lawrence 5-4, his compatriot. Veenstra edged past Davyd Venken by the same scoreline.
While Springer eased past Ricardo Perez 5-1, there was also wins for Kanik over Francois Schweyen 5-2 as well as Arjan Konterman over Roemer Mooijman 5-4, Daniel Zygla with a 114 to win it against Marc Vleghert 5-2 and Tomas Houdek finally who took out one of the best Germans at Q-School in Daniel Klose 5-2.
The action resumes on Tuesday with the field of 128 players completed on Wednesday evening ahead of the Final Stage on Thursday in both Milton Keynes and Kalkar.
