Van den Bergh joins elite list after moving into World Matchplay semi-finals

Dimitri van den Bergh moved into the semi-finals at the World Matchplay with victory over Gerwyn Price and as a result, the defending champion joins an elite list.

Van den Bergh joins three other players who reached semi-finals on their first two appearances at the World Matchplay.

The Belgian of course has 2020 and 2021 with his debut year seeing his title win but before that, it was Glen Durrant in 2019 and 2020.

Dennis Priestley and James Wade were the original two with the former getting to the stage of the tournament between 1994 and 1996. While for Wade, it was 2006 - 2008.

Can Van den Bergh join an even more elite club and win back-to-back World Matchplay titles?
