It has been an up and down year for Vincent van der Voort as he heads into the PDC World Darts Championship to face either Cameron Menzies or Diogo Portela but he believes it is starting to click.
"I wouldn't say full of confidence as the year wasn't that great but I'm working hard and doing everything I can to be in the best shape ever and I think I'm good at the moment but it has to be perfect," said Van der Voort to Online Darts.
Especially with the support of TOTO who have helped on the nutrition element and he has lost weight only a few weeks in which he hopes can help him with the long days.

"I said I want to have more energy, I want to enjoy it more, be more healthier and they said we're going to arrange that. I lost some weight so I've got more energy now.
From the brink
This after a tumultuous few years nearly retiring due to back problems but he is now in a better place.
"I was in so much pain and I still have a lot of back problems but I'm working on it. I changed my throw and I changed everything and I want to see where it goes. I really want to do well and I will do what it takes to get into the best shape ever."
The same bad luck was in play last year as Van der Voort failed a COVID-19 test and was out of the World Championship and he looks back on that.
"I thought it was a wrong test as I never felt anything, I never had a fever, I never had anything so I thought it can't be right. All of a sudden you're in your hotel room for 10 days. That hotel room I'll never forget. I remember on the walls there were stripes and on day five I was counting them. That was a hard time, it was mentally really tough. But we came through."
Sherrock
Never one to shy away from an opinion, Van der Voort gave his on the Fallon Sherrock situation and a damning verdict on the PDC at that.
"It's good for the World Championship as she does massive numbers but do you think it's fair? No because then you have to make up the numbers before that. If there are 2,3,4, 5 women in that's no problem but at the last moment saying you're in, I think that's wrong. If there's someone to blame it's the PDC as they could've been more open about it saying the winner the Women's World Matchplay winner is in. You can't blame her, that's for sure but it's wrong how they put it out but that's the PDC they do so many things wrong," he continued.
"I've been in practice rooms and they're all complaining and suddenly Matt Porter walks in and they're all saying how great darts is and how perfect it is. I know how it works and I can't blame them. They're all after the World Series, the Premier League, they won't upset them but sometimes it's frustrating."
"I like Fallon, she's a great player, she's done so many good things for darts but if you don't qualify, you don't qualify and if you're in, it should be on the right criteria and not because you're not in and we find a way to get you in. It's not her fault but the PDC should be more clear about it."
