Van Duijvenbode organises successful local darts tournament: “Nice to give some impetus to local darts”

The Dijckerhoek Open took place in Poeldijk last weekend. The tournament was organised by Dirk van Duijvenbode together with one of his sponsors.

Van Duijvenbode had long had the plan in the back of his mind to organise a darts tournament. "There are simply not many tournaments in our region. You quickly end up in Brabant, at least an hour's drive away. While there is a lot of darts in the area," Van Duijvenbode says to AD.nl.

'Aubergenius' himself participated in the pairs tournament, which he won together with Maik Kuivenhoven, and looks back with satisfaction. "It quickly ran towards five hundred participants and the location was beautiful. There was quite a lot involved in terms of organisation. Does that make me respect the people who organise the PDC tournaments even more? I always did, because I often organise staff parties for my work. All in all, it was a successful tournament."

Second edition

So a second edition does seem to be coming. "Although it will be in a different form, I think. My free weekend days during the year can be counted on two hands. I think that's why next year we'll go to one day and I'll have the other day nicely to myself. But I did enjoy it, also nice to give some impetus to local darts."
