Van Duijvenbode produces sensational comeback to defeat Brooks

Dirk van Duijvenbode has moved into the second round at the PDC World Darts Championship after producing a sensational comeback to see off Bradley Brooks 3-2.

The World Grand Prix runner-up was 2-0 in sets down and looked to be heading out of the tournament against the World Youth Champion but showed great resolve to comeback into the tie.

Brooks had an excellent start with one of the best debut sets seen in sometime with a 110 average seeing him over the line without reply to take the game to 'The Titan' early on.

A potentially pivotal part of the match came following that as Van Duijvenbode missed double 18 for a 156 and Brooks finished double 10 as a result to claim the second set and go 2-0 up.

Van Duijvenbode increased his average though as he looked to battle back and made it interesting by going 2-1 down in sets with a 102 average in a high quality exchange.

This gave him the confidence and he suddenly levelled the match at 2-2 after securing set four in consecutive legs.

Van Duijvenbode broke to begin the final set and he held throw on double 16 to suddenly go one away.

This was concluded with Brooks missing the chance to hold on double 18 and double nine and the Aubergenius hit a 25 checkout to move through.
