Van Gerwen averages 112 to win fourth Premier League title in style

Michael van Gerwen has continued his scintillating form to once again win another final claiming his fourth Premier League in the process. In doing so he denied Michael Smith a first major title who just couldn't live with the barrage put on him by 'Mighty Mike'.

He averaged 112 in the final winning 11-4 and was up past his record set against the Bully Boy two years ago for most of the match before he tailed off. MVG hit seven 180's as well as 69% on the doubles to boot to claim the title.
For Van Gerwen this sends out a message to his doubters as well as the chasing pack who will now have a barometer of the standard they have to get close to in order to live with the World Number One.
For Smith despite the disappointment of losing in the Premier League final, he can have his head held high after people initially doubted his inclusion.
