Michael van Gerwen edged past Steve Beaton on Sunday night but wasn't at his best continuing what many players and pundits have said is a poor run of form for Mighty Mike.

Van Gerwen hit back at his critics though last night after his victory saying that other top players average similar to 93 and don't get criticised which is why he's the best.
He also said that players who are saying about beating him have only spoke up now and didn't have big mouths when MVG was dominating the sport and he added that in reality he only cares about himself and not what others say.
‘It’s quite weird because I’ve seen other top players average less than 93, which I think is absolutely poor and they say they’re quite good and in form, so I don’t know what the difference is,’ Van Gerwen said to Live Darts. ‘That’s why I’m the best.’
‘Of course, I’m going to turn them over,’ the Dutchman continued. ‘It’s quite easy for them to say now, I fancy beating him, they didn’t have big mouths in the last few years.
‘You always have to believe in yourself and give yourself confidence, what somebody else says, I don’t really care.
‘You always have to aim for perfection, that’s how you’re going to be a winner.’
